Description:

The lighting of the "new fire" is one of the most dramatic and ancient moments of the liturgical year. Signifying the light of Christ dispelling the darkness of sin and death, this rite is meant to draw the congregation together to enjoy the warmth, light, and beauty of the fire.

The Solemn Beginning of the Vigil, or Lucernarium, demands a vessel that is both functional and solemn. The Ziegler "New Fire" Brazier is built to withstand the heat of the ceremony while remaining portable. Two sturdy handles on either side make it easy to hold, and the handles will remain cool to the touch despite the fire within the brazier. It is equipped with an aluminum liner to contain the heat and protect the outer structure.

We are proud to carry this brazier from Zieglers, which serves as the focal point for the gathering of the faithful outside the church. It provides a contained, elevated platform for kindling the fire from which the Paschal Candle and subsequently the candles of the entire congregation will be lit.

Robust and reusable, this brazier is an essential investment for any parish looking to conduct the Easter Vigil Fire Blessing Rite with the reverence and safety it requires. Reach out today with your questions, and we will be happy to assist!
